The question “12 or 13?” is a psychological trick. Most people count the 12 eggs they see clearly on the surface. Because the eggs are all the same color and have similar shadows, the eye often skips the egg at the very bottom of the pile.
9 (Outer) + 3 (Middle) + 1 (Center) = 13 Eggs.
